Spring in My Own Gardens

Thought I'd share a few images of spring in my own gardens.  Although I'm not as accomplished a gardener as my mom, I do love it when buds and flowers appear to beautify our yard.  It feels as though I've accomplished something, though I know that I had absolutely nothing to do with it.

I tend to choose flowers that I can't kill.  Actually, I obtain the flowers (some given to me, some at the local nursery), plant them, and if they survive, they're meant to be in my gardens.  If not, I don't purchase that kind again.  I'm definitely a low-maintenance gardener!

Siberian bugloss (brunnera)

This is my absolute favorite spring flower!  It is so blue and pretty; the individual flowers are so small and delicate looking.  Yet, these plants come back year after year, no matter how hard a winter it was.  With the word Siberian in its name, these little guys are definitely a hardy plant!  They were given to me by my heart-sister Dee via my friend Linda, whom I didn't know at the time.

Daffodils given to me (as bulbs) from my friend Pamela.

My dearest bought scilla bulbs for me from Home Depot last fall, and I planted them and waited.  What came up from the ground as these little leaves and shoots...

...and buds...

...became these pretty purple blooms.  The plants are no more than six inches tall, and they look so pretty scattered around in front of my yellow daffodils.

That's it for now.  I have more images from later in the spring; I'll share those in a future post.

Treasuring life's moments,
Christine
