Theme ~ Animals

Chosen by Kathy.

For this week's theme, I'm sharing some images I took this past January of one particular animal.  Meet Zoey!  She is my friend's cockapoo, and we dog-sat her for a few weeks while her people were on vacation.  She loved going outside and never wanted to come in, and she also loved the snow that remained on the ground.  We would toss chunks of it in the air, and she went racing after each piece, even letting it hit her in the face.  Such a goofy, fun dog!

Here's the image I used for my header, racing toward me and the next hunk of snow with her ears flapping as she ran:

Enjoy the rest of these photos of Zoey having fun in our back yard!

Got her flying through the air!

Attacking the snow chunks.

C'mon!  Throw some more snow for me!  *bark, bark*

Theme ~ Signs of Spring

Chosen by Lew.

Hot off the press!  I took these SIGNS OF SPRING this afternoon.  I thought there might be some spring-y-ness at the Morton Arboretum, and a young lady friend of mine was up for a walk, so we spent an hour and a half freezing our fingers off together (47 degrees F on the thermometer, but a stiff wind made it feel frigid!), walking and snapping, snapping and walking, oohing and aahing over every little (or huge) sign that spring is on its way.

Brought to you, fresh and lovely and all things spring, first off is the image I used for my header.

Enjoy the rest of these, my featured images from a cold day's walk and a promise of warmth and color and spring!

Ground-growing scilla.

Downy woodpecker.

Red maple buds.

Two little pink magnolia trees were in bloom!  I had to shoot up into the sun, so I got creative with the images.

One small field of daffodils was making every effort to burst forth in yellow!

Crocuses peeking up through the leaves.

Red Japanese anemone popping up among some blue scilla.

White forsythia.

Fuzzy buds on the magnolia tree.

Finally, I leave you with these fitting images, of lenten roses, appropriate for this season before Easter Sunday.

It may not feel like it outside, but spring is here!

Theme ~ Leafless Trees

Chosen by Christine.

I thought I'd be out with my camera this pre-spring taking lots of wonderful pictures.  Then, I was hired by Fernando's company to be a driver for his satellite truck (when he needs it), and I've been gone.  So, from the archives...

Here is the image I used for my header.  I took this one winter's evening from my back yard.  I love the shapes and lines of winter trees!

Here are the rest of my featured leafless trees this week.

Sycamore tree at my alma mater.

I think this is a crepe myrtle; taken in Georgia.

I focused on the hawk in this tree, but I love the lines against the blue sky.

White birch trees.

I've shown you this last one before, I think, but it is my favorite tree from the Morton Arboretum.  Isn't she a beauty?

Weekly Header Challenge -- Clocks

It's time for the Weekly Header Challenge!

Theme ~ Clocks

Chosen by Mac.

I think this is the first time for this theme, and a good thing, too, since I don't have too many images of clocks.  But I've loved taking pictures of some interesting ones, and we'll start out with the image I used for my header, an old grandfather clock I discovered at the Univeristy of Illinois during one of Thomas' state math tournaments.

Speaking of old clocks, this one below is situated in downtown Carthage, New York, where my dad grew up.

From Carthage, New York, I travel to Natural Bridge and my favorite ice cream place, Treats 'n 'Tiques.  They have several local 'tiques (antiques) on display, one of them being this scoreboard from the old Carthage public school.  I don't know what this clock keps time for--eight seconds?  Minutes?  For football?  Basketball?  I'm not sure!

This beautiful clock graced the nightstand of an over-the-garage apartment we stayed in when we traveled to Georgia for a friend's daughter's January wedding.  Friends of our friends put us up in their beautifully decorated apartment.

Finally, I think this is the biggest clock on the blog today, taken downtown Chicago.  I can't remember where I took this--and it would've been a great image to use for last week's sepia theme!  But I needed to save it for you all for this week.

Well, the clock is ticking, and I need to go.  Bye until next time!!

Weekly Header Challenge -- Sepia

It's time for the Weekly Header Challenge!

Theme ~ Sepia

Chosen by all of us.

Finally!  Everyone was vying for time on our home computer, and now it's my turn.  Here are my images for this week's theme.  First, the uncropped image I used for my header:

I took this a few years ago, when we had snow (hardly any this past winter!).  I love the vintage look of a tinge of sepia, the lines of the bare trees, and the reflections in the river.

Here's another sepia image of winter snowfall and an evergreen tree just outside our back yard.

One final sepia image, of my 1950s vintage tea kettle I use every day for my morning Irish breakfast tea.  The sepia look goes well with the vintage kettle.

And now, it's about tea time this afternoon!  See you soon!!
