An Evening, A Bridge, And An Island | Paris Travel

Looking across the Seine River to Ile de la Cité and Notre Dame.

Our Silver Paris

We had such a romantic evening walk along the Seine River that we decided to do it again the next night.  :)

We walked a circuitous route, crossing pont de Sully onto Ile St. Louis.  Pont de la Tournelle with shining in the night, providing another pathway across the Seine.  And then we saw it--le tour Eiffel, just its top section, glittering in the night sky.  What a treat!

It seems everywhere we walked, we could spot the Eiffel Tower.  *sigh*

Another night scene along the Seine, with the light shining atop the Eiffel Tower. Taken from pont de la Tournelle.

We had another spectacular view of Notre Dame, too.

Somehow, we ended up at this Berthillon ice cream stand again.  Time for glace et sorbet!!

As we enjoyed our cones, we wandered across pont St. Louis in search of a traditional French melody floating in the evening air.  I could recognize an accordion anywhere!  We stopped and listened and enjoyed.

An old Frenchman played accordion music as we sat and ate our ice cream.

I just loved how the lights reflected along the river's surface.  As a side note, the reflections were interrupted every now and then by tour boats--bateaux that would slice through the water, shining their lights along the shoreline and the buildings.  An unwelcome interruption, but a temporary one at least.

Seine reflections.

On Ile St. Louis, the streets, the lights, the people in the restaurants--everything begged for a picture!  And then, a raindrop.  And another.  Then down it came--not a torrent, but steady enough that everyone ran for cover under awnings and in doorways.  We didn't mind, though.  This was French rain!  It added to the romance of the evening.

We found a little stone square, and decided to do a few self-portraits.

On the way back home, we stopped to grab one more picture of the Seine.

You really need to take a walk along the Seine in the evening, just once at least, with your honey.
