Theme ~ Games

Chosen by Christine.  (That's me.)

I laughed when I looked at the theme for the week--who chose this theme, anyway?  It was me.  And I have no pictures to show for it.  Well, except for this game called baseball.  Friends invited us to see a Chicago White Sox game with them last month--what a blast!

Here's the photo I used for my header:

Sox win!  Sox win!

Here are the highlights from the evening.  Enjoy!

Fireworks show after the game!

One photo after the game, looking from the ramps at the stadium out toward the city.

It was a great game and a great day with friends!

Theme ~ Summer is Here!

Chosen by me.

June 22 marked the first day of summer, so we know, calendar-wise, that summer is here!  Here are all the ways I love that summer is finally here...

My header image, uncropped:  Diving right in to summer!

Summer is here in all these ways:

Water sports on  Lake Bonaparte...

Ball games...

Fireworks...

Summer flowers...

And harvests from the garden...

Canning adventures...

And food on the grill...

Farmers market...

And festivals for fun...

And finally, sunsets on the lake.

Summer is here!!

Theme ~ Right Place, Right Time

Chosen by Tom.

I panicked this morning, because I totally forgot that it was Headbanger Day!!  Then I checked my Lightroom catalog, and realized--I had already designed a header for this week, and uploaded all my photos!  Everything was ready to go.  So here I am, barely on time once again.  Here is my header, full image style:

These football pictures are definitely a matter of being in the right place at the right time.  Fortunately, I was the team photographer, and I was allowed on the sidelines.  Right place, check.  I have tons of great images, because of a little luck called the right time.  Many plays were way across the field, or my lens didn't zoom enough, or...  But I have a good number of images where the play happened close enough to me, at the right angle, to make the images great.

Many Right Place, Right Time images are a matter of finding your spot, anticipating what's going to happen, then waiting.  With a little luck, you'll get that shot at just the right time.  Here are the rest of my images; some have been featured as header images in the past, simply because they were taken in the right place and at the right time.  Enjoy!

The below shot was pure luck--we were at Andy's (frozen custard shop) with another family, good friends of ours who were moving.  We were there for one last ice cream together (we had introduced them to Andy's frozen custard after we met them).  I had brought my camera to snap some pictures when we heard the whomp-whomp-whomp of military helicopters landing at our local airstrip a mere three blocks away.  Shot between the trees, right after dusk, silhouetted against the sky--sweet.

Cubs win!

Sneaking the camera out for a restaurant shot.

Butterfly landing on purple coneflower.

Boat tour going under the Thousand Islands Bridge.

Girl water-skiing on Lake Bonaparte.

Now I kinda want it to be summer again.  Hope you have a super day!

Theme ~ Photo to Portray a Film

Chosen by Mac.

Well, isn't this week's theme fun?  Although we do watch our share of movies, I'm always stumped to name them.  So I had Fernando shout out some classic or favorite movies, and I tried to see if I could come up with a photo to portray what he shouted out.  Since my header shot is a recent one, I figured I'd use that one.  Here it is in full, with its movie title:

Field of Dreams

starring Kevin Costner

July 2 -- Sox win!!

Here are some more I came up with...

Apollo 13

starring Tom Hanks

This is the actual Apollo 13 module!

Waterworld

starring Kevin Costner

Gone with the Wind

starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh

Fernando's grill after a bad thunderstorm.

Heat

starring Al Pacino

Pickled jalapenos -- canned in my kitchen.

And, one more suggested by my husband, the movie buff:

Bad Boys

starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence

Guys looking tough--the H. Family guys and my guys.  :)

Hope you enjoy these!  I can't wait to see your creativity!!
