Theme ~ A Photo I Decided to Keep

Chosen by me, on behalf of Lew.

Here is the image I used for this week’s theme:

I take pretty much the same photos every year.  But I decide to keep them because it's a documentation of my life, what I've accomplished, and the fact that I can celebrate another year of having a garden.

Here are more typical garden photos from this year which I decided to keep...

Before planting...

Fernando getting compost on the beds for me...

New plants!

Little carrots are growing...

Herbs in my front yard garden...

Finally, who can resist a strawberry photo?

Theme ~ Where Am I?

Chosen by Tom.

This week's theme will yield a pretty easy answer, so I'll just let my photos do the talking.  Here's the image I used for my header.  I shot it with my macro lens looking through the "forest" at ground level.

Take a tour of where I am...

You (hopefully) obviously guessed that I'm in my garden.  Here's an overhead view from the deck of our pool, which I've used for years to take overview photos of my garden.  This photo, though, is the last of its kind--our pool is finally in the process of being taken down (a couple of brutal winters + no money to repair the damage = no more pool), and the deck is coming down today.

Hope you enjoyed the tour!

Weekly Header Challenge -- Gardens

It's time for the Weekly Header Challenge!

Theme ~ Gardens

Chosen by me.

When I chose the theme for this particular week of June, I thought for sure I'd have beautiful images of my flower gardens to share with you.  Then I got a job.

So, here I am this week, sharing images from gardens--whatever ones I've taken pictures of.  Oh, and with a few thrown in from previous years, so I can show off my flowers.  :)

Here is the image I'm using for my header.  I wandered through my raised bed gardens the morning after a nice long rain, and I caught the raindrops in the rays of the morning sun.

Here's another leaf, backlit by the sun.

Where there are spring strawberry leaves, there are bound to be strawberry blossoms!

Those blossoms turn into baby strawberries...

...which turn into red, juicy strawberries!

The sage in my garden bloomed before I could harvest anything, so I took some pictures, then eventually pruned it back.

Below, this Greek columnar basil is a new variety for my garden this year.  It's supposed to be similar to the standard basil we all love turning into pesto!

Earlier this spring, the daffodils bloomed in my front yard flower gardens.

Here's a somewhat embarrassing photo of one of my front yard flower gardens the guys help me build.  It's overgrown with oregano and daisies.

Part-way through Danny and I working on cutting things back, weeding, and generally cleaning up, I snapped a photo of this variegated beard tongue.  It usually proliferates in my garden, but it has died off and only three or four plants remain.

In my front porch garden, Siberian bugloss (brunnera) blooms with tiny bright blue/periwinkle flowers.  I love their color!

In what I term a major accomplishment, two of my gardens are blooming.  This is a June photo from last year, since the yellow flowers (threadleaf coreopsis) aren't in bloom yet.

There you have it--my gardens, such as they are, this week!

Theme ~ Recent Photos

Chosen by all of us.

This week is a "bye" week, meaning that in the absence of fellow Headbanger Craver, we decided on the theme of Recent Photos.  We're guaranteed to get a wide variety of images this week, I think!

My header image was taken about ten days ago; my garden harvest has slowed down significantly even since then.

The rest of my images today have all been taken in the past week.  Here we go!

Yes, this is our car.  Yes, it is a BMW.  We purchased her in April, but since I wanted to blog about how we came to be her owner, I took these recent pictures.  If you want to read about how this classy lady came to be ours given our incredible journey these past few years, visit this post on our personal family blog.

Back to my garden harvest, my friend Becki taught me how to preserve veggies by fermenting them in Fido (pronounced fee-doh) jars; I took that newly acquired knowledge and have been "going to town" experimenting with my garden veggies!

We attended a wedding last week!  I took only a few pictures--I mostly wanted to get some pictures of Fernando and me since we were dressed up--but here are two that I took of the bride and groom.

Sending them off with birdseed!

My final images are the most recent, taken for a client just a few days ago.  I was hired to do photography for a high school football team's home games, and this was the first game of the season.  I'm sharing three images from that day; be thankful it's only three--the client gallery has 300+!!

My Danny is in the middle--the trio sang the National Anthem!

One action shot, in the rain--we're the team in the blue.

I'll be off to visit you shortly; please leave a comment for me!!

Christine
