It's time for the Weekly Header Challenge!

Theme ~ Going Strong

Chosen by All of Us.

For this week's theme, I chose my family, since we're all going strong.  And my guys are strong.  'Nuff said.  Here's the image I used for my header.  At a wedding, I took the camera that doesn't work with my remote shutter release (of course), so I adjusted all the settings, propped it on a bench and used the 10-second timer.  Danny pressed the shutter than ran into the frame because I wasn't about to press it and run and jump into my guys' arms!

Here are some other things are are going strong.

My dad at age 84!

Danny, who graduated from college and just landed a job.

These flowers were growing strong, in profusion.

These two old vehicles, at 500,000+ and almost 100,000+ miles, are both still going strong!

The White Sox were going strong by winning their game.

My garden is going strong.

Alpine strawberries, going strong.

Finally--fireworks from a few days ago were definitely going strong!

Theme ~ Away Day

Chosen by Mac.

We just came off of three "away" days this past Labor Day weekend!  We had six events from Friday night through Monday, and we made it through, lol.  One of the things we did while we were away each day was to go to Super Car Saturday, a car show in our town at a local outdoor shopping area called The Promenade.  Here is my header image, uncropped.  This BMW convertible was my personal favorite.  I like blue!

I brought my Canon 60D with its 24-105mm f/4L lens, and took all my pictures with that combination since I didn't want to carry around a backpack of gear--it was hot that day!

Enjoy these highlights of our time at the car show!

Exotic, new, old, vintage, fancy--but all were expensive!  We had a fun time, and topped it off with a free lunch at Gordon Biersch Brewery/Restaurant, thanks to gift cards.  What do you do on your "away" days?  I can't wait to see!

Theme ~ Recent Photos

Chosen by all of us.

This week is a "bye" week, meaning that in the absence of fellow Headbanger Craver, we decided on the theme of Recent Photos.  We're guaranteed to get a wide variety of images this week, I think!

My header image was taken about ten days ago; my garden harvest has slowed down significantly even since then.

The rest of my images today have all been taken in the past week.  Here we go!

Yes, this is our car.  Yes, it is a BMW.  We purchased her in April, but since I wanted to blog about how we came to be her owner, I took these recent pictures.  If you want to read about how this classy lady came to be ours given our incredible journey these past few years, visit this post on our personal family blog.

Back to my garden harvest, my friend Becki taught me how to preserve veggies by fermenting them in Fido (pronounced fee-doh) jars; I took that newly acquired knowledge and have been "going to town" experimenting with my garden veggies!

We attended a wedding last week!  I took only a few pictures--I mostly wanted to get some pictures of Fernando and me since we were dressed up--but here are two that I took of the bride and groom.

Sending them off with birdseed!

My final images are the most recent, taken for a client just a few days ago.  I was hired to do photography for a high school football team's home games, and this was the first game of the season.  I'm sharing three images from that day; be thankful it's only three--the client gallery has 300+!!

My Danny is in the middle--the trio sang the National Anthem!

One action shot, in the rain--we're the team in the blue.

I'll be off to visit you shortly; please leave a comment for me!!

Cars and Trucks, from Farm to Guns

Friends invited us to a car show featuring farm equipment and military vehicles.  We figured it'd be a nice night out and ended up having a blast hanging out with a great family.  I brought Ellie along on what would be some of her last shots before being sent for repair (her main dial was not working properly--try changing the shutter speed when the dial just spins!).  I used my 50mm prime lens for all the shots, in overcast/dim lighting and this was the best I could do--mostly close-up but not too shabby, I think  ;)

These last three close-ups are pretty special.  They're part of a very special car, and most kids will know which one if they look at all three of these images.  The man who built it paid attention to every detail.  Can you guess which famous car this is a remake of?

Now I'm humming the tune to its famous movie musical.

The Road Home

On our drive home from Georgia...

 Through the Windshield

Southern billboard

Birds on a lake in Tennessee

Lake and train bridge, Tennessee

Steep grade

Famous local restaurant

Louisville, Kentucky

Downtown Louisville, Kentucky

Chick-Fil-A sign (boy, their classic misspelling burns me...)

Vehicle bridge

We had an uneventful ride home, except for a huge accident on I-65 near Indy.  Praise the Lord for road signs indicating the accident, and my new smart phone's navigation that helped us get around it.  :)
