Flowers, Bees, Moths, and Trees

My mind gets a little boggled just thinking about how the Lord created beauty in such different ways--a sunset, a flower, a bird, a waterfall.  Sweet and simple, and yet so complex, is the beauty, which only the Lord can create, that I came across during our family vacation.

The First of Many

I love going to the Lake.  I don't want to tell you when I first visited there, but I was a baby.  I went every year with my family until my mid-teens, when we all started going our own ways.  Once Fernando and I were married, we returned to the lake with our boys, visiting year after year.  We've missed a year here and there, but the lake always calls us back.  :)

Enough with waxing poetic.  I'm ready to share the creative side of my photography over the course of our time at the lake.  My very first photos are courtesy of the Lord.  :)


Anatomy of a Sunset

The first sunset of vacation did not disappoint.  And there were many more to come, all painted by the Lord, different and unique every time, never to be seen again.  Except for the wonder of technology and my Ellie who captured the beauty for all time.  Below are several moments of that first evening at the lake.

Project 2012 -- Week 33

Project 2012 -- Week 33

August 12-18

My week started off with a get-together of family and friends, and a nice little stash of images on my memory card.  We had a great evening watching little girls, being entertained by their expressions and actions.

The rest of my week was filled with helping Jacob get ready for dorm life.  One of the nicer things we did was to go out for one last dessert night.

On Friday, we loaded the car and took off to WIU to get Jacob settled in his dorm.

After helping Jacob get moved in, we took him and his roommate out for pizza, then took some pictures back at his dorm building.  I love the goofy shots that get captured while I'm getting all the camera settings straight.  Below is one of them.

Jacob is moved in and hopefully settled at school.  He has entered a new season of life, and so have we.  I miss him, though.  And I know it will get easier.  God is good.

Chatting with Children

I didn't know it yet, but I was in for a treat this particular day.  I took my guys to the S home so the guys could help them get their moving van loaded.  With my weak back, I knew I wouldn't be any help, but I wanted to do something.  All I could do was play with Anna's children, who love to talk.  A lot.  It was amazing how much I talked in just the first hour!  These sweet, darling children were such fun, that this didn't feel like work at all.

I almost forgot to take a picture of all the gallons of syrup we brought home from the Lake!  The below is most, but not all, of it.  (My cousin makes pure maple syrup, and my friends and I buy from him.)

Another harvest day, mostly tomatoes.  Jacob did all the work in the garden this day.

Friday Frisbee--I caught an awesome shot of my sweet Joseph!  Even though he didn't catch this Frisbee, the action shot is great and is further proof that autism does not define Joseph's life.
