Welcome

Welcome to the Lake--
The light is on,
Glowing warmly through the porch
In soft greeting.

A Mist of Rainbow Dyes

A flash of harmless lightning,
A mist of rainbow dyes,
The burnished sunbeams brightening
From flower to flower he flies.

John Banister Tabb

I don't think I'll ever be a bird photographer.  But I sure love trying.  :)

I hope you enjoy my feeble attempts at capturing this quick-darting creature.  My camera's auto-focus refused to do so, even when this little guy (and gal) were hovering.  So I tried to get creative, and these are my attempts.

Below is the female, with this first image showing her tongue; can you see it?

Project 2012 -- Week 35

Project 2012 -- Week 35
August 26 -September 1

Welcome to my Project 2012 weekly post!  This is my time for looking back over the past week, choosing my seven favorites images, and sharing them here with you.  If you have a project you're working on, please leave a comment so I can visit your blog and see what you're up to!

Well, I can't believe I wrote September in the title above!  Summer flew by; we were beyond busy with homeschool conventions, garage sales, vacation, getting Jacob ready for college, and now...but I'll wait til the end to share that.  :)

I decided to pull a few carrots from my garden this past week.  This Nantes variety produces a shorter root than you typically see in your supermarket, but they're sweeter.  This is my third year growing them, and since I have a much smaller harvest, I'm savoring each and every carrot.

Last week I potsed a picture I had made for a week's worth of meals.  When I made my salads this week, I decided to take a picture of the whole week's worth of salads, and make it look nice and pretty.  :)

I decided to bring Ellie to our local farmers market.  Thomas usually accompanies me to carry bags back to the car as I purchase meat, eggs, veggies, and other goodies for the week's meals.  I give him a few dollars to spend at the below booth.  He is definitely a coffee lover!

Below is one of my favorite vendors.  I can't spend money here each week, obviously, but I bought a little dish in the shape of a leaf.  The potter imprinted an actual leaf design into the dish.

Thomas' good nature seemed to attract an overwhelming amount of free samples.  He got two donut samples, and let me take a bite of one of them.  It was pretty good!

In honor of an upcoming trip, I ordered a special gift for Ellie.  She's outfitted now, and is completely comfortable around my neck.  I can't wait to carry Ellie every day on our special trip, taking pictures of amazing things.

Jacob came home from WIU for the weekend!  We had a great weekend spending time together.  I made a special dessert to finish up our Saturday together.

 [245] Summer treat

This week promises to be a busy one, since we're getting ready for...

A special trip is in the works for Fernando's and my 25th wedding anniversary!  We've been planning this trip since March, and I'm so excited about taking off with my honey this Friday.  I'll still keep posting, since I have so much to share from this past summer.  Once I'm back, there will be several extra-special posts to share, including one amazing week's worth of Project 2012 images!

Have a beautiful week!

Undeserved, Moment by Moment

There is no way in which a man can earn a star
or deserve a sunset.

G.K. Chesterton

Tonight's sunset is brought to you courtesy of Ellie, captured moment by moment.
