Growing Up

I wanted to share these candid photos, taken  on Thanksgiving.  What a great day to be thankful for young men growing up strong in the Lord!  Enjoy these two.

Saturday Sightings -- Thanksgiving Sunset

Please click on Mrs. M's button above to visit her blog,

What a chilly day Thanksgiving turned into!  It dipped into the teens in the evening, though we didn't notice because we were well-fed, snug and warm inside my parents' home.

As my mom and I chatted in the kitchen during clean-up time, the sunset glow caught my eye through the kitchen window at my mom's back.  I instantly grabbed my camera and slipped out onto the back yard deck.  Brr!

But the glowing western sky was worth the cold.  What amazing golds and yellows the Lord blessed me with!  About ten minutes later, I slipped outside again.

Okay, seriously.  Could it get any prettier?  I really didn't edit these photos; God did all of the painting.  Several minutes later, here is what met my eyes.

The yellows and golds had faded into deep reds, pinks, and purples.  The fenceline was still edged in gold.

Blue--my favorite color.  Though nothing beats the colors of a sunset.  Thank You, Lord!!

Winter is Coming!

The seasons are changing!  I'm sitting here at the computer, knowing that I need to get in the car and go buy groceries for all the yummy things I'm supposed to make for Thanksgiving.  But it's cold outside!  Winter is almost here.  We've had such a mild autumn that I'm still in denial.

While winter is not one of my favorite seasons, I love capturing images such as the one below.  After a bitter-cold day of tubing with the family this past January, we stuck around the park (Blackwell Forest Preserve) for a while.  The guys tramped through the snow to another tubing/snowboarding spot, and I hung around the car--I was c-c-cold!

As the sun began to go down, a break in the clouds caught my attention.  When I turned toward the west, I saw the sun-lined clouds framing this gigantic snow-covered pine tree.  For the next several minutes, I wasn't so cold any more.  Thank You, Lord, for winter.

You have established all the boundaries of the earth;
You have made summer and winter.

In Spirit and By Blood

These two young men are brothers by blood, but also in spirit.  They are both Christians, following the Lord with their whole hearts.

The younger brother, Jacob, has been such a blessing to the older, Joseph, who has autism.  Jacob truly is his brother's keeper, and both are blessed in their brotherhood.

The Lord could not have chosen better brothers for each other.

Saturday Sightings -- Brothers

Please click on Mrs. M's button above to visit her blog,
to view interesting photos, and to participate with us!

I'm sorry I don't have "I spotted this while out..." photos!  I'm simply sharing from my collection.  I do have images on my camera that I need to download--maybe today if I can grab a few minutes while preparing for guests this evening!  Anyway, even though the below photo is from a photo session, they are my sons, and I feel that this photo embodies who they are as a twosome.

Joseph, the older brother (bottom left), is autistic.  Jacob has always had Joseph with him, and has become his guardian and protector.  They love each other.  Thanks for letting me share this today!

Shoot the Dishes

~My photo gallery~  Christine Anne at Smugmug  ~My photo gallery~

Since my last post was about food photography, I figured I'd post about the dishes that hold the food!  Over at  my family blog, I participate in a weekly meme called Tea Talk.  I was inspired by other ladies to photograph my (and others') teacups.

Love my Gibson everyday china!

Here are a few of my favorites.

 Tea at Lori's house!

Up Close

I love shooting close up.  My clients know this, and if you visit my website, you'll see this technique employed frequently.  When I look at photographs of other people, my focus tends to slide right to the faces and eyes--even when the eyes are closed!  I love the below photo.

My fascination with close-up photography also lends itself to food photography.  Since I have taken so many pictures of food over the years, I have decided to post some here to share.

I'm glad I've already eaten!  Thanks for allowing me to share.  :)

We have had fun taking care of a friend's pet this week.  Sweet Pea, a Boston terrier, is very smart and friendly.  We hope she has enjoyed her time with us this week!

She Could be My Daughter!

Proofs are finalized and photos are chosen!  I wanted to share a glimpse of photos of this young lady who is graduating!!!

Yes, she could be my daughter.  Joanna has a practical side that resonates with my heart, but she also has a ready smile and, after this photo session, I know I can get her to laugh.

Okay, Joanna, tell me that muffin joke again.  I just don't get it!  (I still don't get it...)

Taylors, Full of Life

~My website~  Christine Anne Photography  ~My website~

The Taylor family have been our friends for many years.  And I have had the privilege and honor of photographing them for a few of those years.  It has been amazing to see their family grow, in number and in size!

Enjoy a few of my favorite photos from their recent photo session.

More About Girls...and Boys!

I just uploaded more photos to my photo gallery above.  I have been blessed to follow this particular family with my camera through the years, so it was a joy to go back through older photos, do some reminiscing, and get the collections uploaded to my new gallery.

Enjoy the quick peek here, and click here if you'd like to see them all.  :)

Dreaming of Little Girls...

The Lord has blessed me with boys, and I love them dearly. They are amazing, full of energy and weirdness and wackiness.  My life is filled with boys!!

So there is a special tug on my heartstrings when I get to photograph little girls.  They are so wonderfully different from boys, and I marvel at their little-girlishness.  :)

Here are a couple of images from a recent photo shoot of two darling sisters.  Aren't they precious?

Below is my absolute favorite photo from this session.
